Uighur Style Part 1: The Gents

July 25, 2010

The Uighur men wear an interesting variety of hats.  All of these photos were taken in and around Kashgar.

Most common is the “pillow box” – so called by me after an inadvertent slip-of-the-tongue by Jade, referring to the pillbox hats of the type worn by Jackie O.

Hi Sariah, I love Jades hat very cute but she really should try a Pillbox!!! The feautures of the
Uighur people are very interesting somewhat Russian Slavic mixed with Asian. The beards look
like they hail from the Russian orthodox influence. Are the animals cashmire goats. Have fun on
    your adventure!
    Love A.L xo

      Hi Lauren,
Yep, the people watching has been great, and it was surprising to see that the people don’t really look Chinese at all in Kashgar / NW China. The animals in the first picture are sheep.
